 BEYOND THE WALLS

The Concept:

The concept of what we now know as “The Beyond the Walls Ministry”
was conceived in the year of 1998. As Pastor Evans perused the beautiful
new edifice, God had given to us. The Spirit of the Lord spoke to him (while
sitting in his office) saying, the Church “the called out” Ecclesia must go
beyond these beautiful walls.” Immediately the word of God came to mind
from two passages (Matthew 25:31-46 and 28: 18-20). In our first passage
during the Olivet Discourse Christ speaks of the Gentiles judgment. How on
that day there will be a great separation. Those who did the Master’s will,
feed the hungry, clothe the naked etc. were rewarded, those who chose to
ignore the less fortunate (Him) were judged. Matthew also records our risen
Savior ascension when he pronounced what we know in the Christian area
as the “Great Commission.” Two things come to mind “go ye and lo I.” In
other words, there will be no “Lo I if there is no Go Ye.” Said Dr. George
McRae of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church of Miami, Florida.

The Challenge:

In other words the “Beyond the Walls Ministry” is based solely on Christ
word. Therefore, we challenged the Friendship family to do just that each
ministry leader was asked to go back to their ministries and embrace the
concept. From this vision, the following ministries were conceived.

·       The Bread of Life Ministry
·       The Rosa Payne Food and Clothing Ministry
·       The Prison Ministry
·       The Nursing Home Ministry
·       The Evangelism in the Park Ministry
·       The Social Action Ministry

Just to name a few, and as the ministry grows and needs are made known
we are esthetically ready to address those needs.  In 2001, the Angel Tree
Ministry was added to the list of ministries that focus their efforts "Beyond
the Walls."

The Mission:

Our mission is actually in the lyrics of the old hymn, “to serve this present
age my calling to full fill, may all my power engage to do my master’s will.”
Therefore, more than anything else, our Pastor desires to equip the body
of Christ to do the Master’s will.
